DegusI have 2 degus, one I have had for 4 years. Because of my lack of originality I simply named him degu. The second one I bought last summer his name is Aaron. Degus are from Chile which in their natural habitat are considered pests in the local neighborhoods. A degu looks like half gerbil half squrriel combination. The head looks like a squirrel and the bottom half looks like a gerbil but much bigger. Degus are not very common, and because of that they are considered exotic pets. They are full of energy, but not from sugar. Sugar is bad for them, they can't eat sugar from fruits or other sources. Starch is also not good for them, vegetable are usually the best. When their teeth are bright orange, it means they are healthy. Although they look like a rodent they are not, they belong to the same families as prairie dogs and chinchilla's. If you would like more information about degus please email me. Thank you.. Back to Main |
